The schedule of activities is designed to provide participants the opportunity to experience the art, culture, and traditions of Spain.  There may be circumstances where we may have to deviate from the schedule.  Therefore, please note that Forspro reserves the right to make changes to the schedule and/or substitute activities without prior notice.

July 05  Tuna Group
  • Place: Mara Auditotrium

  • Time:  Start tme for the concert is at 22:00 hour and lasts approximately one hour

La Tuna is a traditional music group made up of university students. It is something that dates back for centuries.  From its origins to the present day, from and through of the Tunas have continued the cultivation of popular instruments such as the bandurria, lute, guitar and tambourine.  The clothing of the Tuna is derived from that of Iberian students of the 16th and 17th centuries. It is called a grillo in Spanish (meaning "cricket") and consists of a cloak, doublet, beca, shirt, stockings, baggy trousers or gregüescos and shoes or boots.
July 07 Royal Palace (Guided)

Built on the site of the old Alcazar Real (Royal Fortress), the Royal Palace contains innumerable collections and works of art; particularly outstanding are the Throne Room, the Banquet Hall and the Salon Gasparini. Also worth seeing are its various museums. Hours: 9:00 - 18:00 Monday to Saturday; Sundays from 10:00 - 14:30. Closed during official functions.

July 12  El Prado Museum (Guided)

The Prado Museum is one of the best art galleries in the world. It houses the most important collection of Spanish painting through the 19th century. In it we can admire masterpieces by Velazquez, El Greco, Goya, Murillo, Ribera and Zubaran, among others. In addition, it also contains a magnificent collection of Flemish and Italian art: Rembrandt, Rafael, Botticeli, Tintoretto, among others. Museum hours: 9:00 - 19:00 Tuesday to Saturday; Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00; closed Mondays.

July 19  Flamenco

Flamenco is known for its intricate rapid passages, and a dance genre characterized by its audible footwork. The origins of the term are unclear.  Flamenco embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition. Although considered part of the culture of Spain in general, flamenco actually originates from one region: Andalusia

July 12  Archeological Museum (Guided)

Pre-Christian Spain. The museum's galleries fully illustrate every age of Spain's history dating back to prehistoric times. The exhibits are vast and of great educational value. Museum hours: 9:30 - 20:30 Tuesday to Saturday; Sundays from 9:30 - 14:30; closed Mondays.

July 17  Fiestas de Chamberí

As in many other Spanish towns, various neighborhoods dedicate these dates in mid July to the Virgen del Carmen. The echoed words: "From el Carmen to Santiago the sun never goes down in Chamberí", can be applied to these days in the Vallecas, La Latina and Carabanchel neighborhoods, where sporting events, parties, and music shows come one after the other.

July 25 Chinchón (The Little Pamplona)

July 25th, the feast of St. James the patron saint of Spain, is the day on which the bullfighting season begins in Chinchón with an early morning encierro (running of the bulls) and a novillada (training bullfight) in the afternoon.

Note: Students are not allowed to run with the bulls
